Willem Petrus Esterhuyse

Former Professor at Stellenbosch University


Born 19-08-1936 in Laingsburg

Willie Esterhuyse served as Professor at Stellenbosch University from 1974 to 2002. He is author of several academic publications on philosophy and socio-politics, and the winner of several awards. He became known for his role in actively enlisting other Afrikaners to the anti-apartheid cause when he assumed a role in opening the dialogue between the exiled African National Congress and South Africa's Apartheid government in the late 1980s.
