Fatima Meer

South African Anti-Apartheid Activist


Born 12-09-1928 in Durban

Fatima Meer is a prominent anti-apartheid activist and author of several publications. In 1955 Meer became a founding member of the Federation of South African Women, the Women’s organisation that organised the famous Anti-Pass March on the Union Buildings in Pretoria in 1956. Founder and Director of the Institute of Black Research. Fatima Meer passed away on 13 March 2010 at the age of 81years.
