Piet Koornhof passed away on the 12 of November 2007 from a stroke at his home in Stellenbosch; He was a former ambassador to the United States of America; Koornhof joined the African National Congress (ANC) in November 2001; He studied Theology at Stellenbosch University before getting his Scholarship to Rhodes University; He declared to an audience in Washington in 1979, as PW Botha was settling into power, that apartheid as you know it is dead.
