In 2007 Lydia was nominated as a Finalist for the Shoprite Checkers/SABC2 Woman of the Year 2007 in the Sports category. She was nominated for her contribution to the upliftment of women in football and education!

Her community projects involves giving motivational talks to (young) aspiring athletes at tournaments and sports awards dinners, some of which include at her former school ISSA (Oct 2006), USSASA National Netball Champs (Aug 2007), Wits University Sp

Lydia has given talks as a guest/podium speaker at several international events including the 4th Drive Dialogue in Berlin, Germany on Female Pespective of the 2010 World Cup (May 2008) and the Sports, Development and Journalism conference in Feldafi

She is also on the expert team for the Laduma! Fu?ballfieber met IQ football project, run by Geko GmbH in Germany
