Jaco Van der Westhuyzen

Jaco Jacobus Nicolaas Boshoff Van der Westhuyzen

South African Rugby Union player

Born 06-04-1978 in Groblersdal

Jaco has rejoined Bulls for the 2010 Super 14 season. Jaco started his career with Natal, but later moved North to the Pumas. After a successful season under the expert eye of former Bok great Danie Gerber, Van der Westhuyzen moved on to the Blue Bulls where he helped them win the Vodacom Cup in 2001. After a stint with NEC in Japan, Jaco decided to return to Pretoria and fight for a World Cup place. Van der Westhuyzen has brilliant vision and silky skills which, combined with his more than decent kicking boot, resulted in him earning two Test caps for the Springboks in 2000. A debilitating knee injury cut short his Bok ambitions but he made a successful return during 2003 and was a key member of the squad that went to the World Cup in Australia. Although he played fullback at the World Cup it is still believed that his best position is flyhalf. He made his international Debut in 2000 in a game against New Zealand at Johannesburg.
