In 1940 he is arrested for printing leaflets with Don't support this war, where the rich get richer and the poor get killed printed on it.

In 1947 he tours India and meets Gandhi, Nehru and Jiinnah.

In 1947 He is part of the infamous Dadoo-Xuma-Naicker pact uniting Indians and Africans in the struggle.

In 1948 he is sentenced to 6 months imprisonment for violating the 1913 Immigration Act .
