Dennis Brutus was a South African activist, educator, journalist and poet. Professor: North-western University (English), United States; Organizer: Malmesbury Convention; IN 1961 he was banned and in 1963 he was arrested for violating his banning orders. He was imprisoned on Robben Island for 18 months. Dennis Brutus died of prostate cancer in Cape Town on 26 December 2009 at the age of 85.
