Archbishop Desmond Tutu is quoted to say of Huddleston: If you could say that anybody single-handedly made apartheid a world issue then that person was Trevor Huddleston; In 1955 he was the first recipient of the highest award granted by the African National Congress, namely the Isitwalandwe/Seaparankoe award. Fellow recipients include Chief Albert Luthuli and Dr. Yusuf Dadoo.;
