Acting Chairperson: Transvaal Council of Non-European Trade Unions; Member: African National Congress (ANC); In the Treason Trial December 1957 he was one of the co-accused. He was also detained 1960 during the state of emergency. In the early 1960s he left South Africa but continued his work with the ANCand with the trade union movement abroad;
