John Mandlakayise Hlophe

Judge-President of the Cape High Court


Born 01-01-1959 in Kzn South Africa

John Hlophe is Judge-President of the Cape High Court in Cape Town. Hlophe taught law at the University of Transkei before he was appointed, aged 36, to sit as the first black judge in the High Court in Cape Town. He was also the first full-time academic to be appointed as a High Court Judge.
