Patti Wickens worked at UCT as a researcher on various projects with corporate, government, Worldwide Fund for Nature and United Nations funding.
Currently Patti leads the environmental management function for the De Beers Family of Companies. She coordinates the Environmental Peer Group – the environmental leadership team for the Family of Companies and collaboratively develops policy and strategy, standards for environmental performance, and establishes mutually beneficial partnerships with NGOs and links with key organisations to stay abreast with developments and to benchmark performance. She provides assurance to the De Beers Board ECOHS Committee on environmental risks and performance.
Patti has published over sixty scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and articles in environmental or scientific magazines and has presented papers at numerous international conferences.
Patti is the current chair of the South African Mining and Biodiversity Forum (a forum of NGOs, government, mining companies and the Chamber of Mines).
