He concluded the 2003 season as the leading wicket taker in Test cricket, having taken 59 wickets in 12 Tests. He also took 45 One Day International wickets in the same year.

In 2002 he took 50 One Day International wickets.

He escalated in popularity and was voted most popular sportsperson in South Africa by the BMI 2005 Sportrack study.

First Black Player to play for South Africa (1998).

Ntini, a product of the United Cricket Board's development programme, was the leading wicket taker with 14 wickets in the NatWest One Day International series in England.

He became the first South African Bowler to take 10 wickets in a Test match at Lords (10 for 220) in the second Test against England.

He is currently ranked 2nd on the ICC World Bowlers' ranking (2007)
