Makhaya Ntini

South African Cricket Player


Born 06-07-1977 in Mdingi, Eastern Cape South Africa

Makhaya Ntini is a former right arm fast-medium bowler for the South African Cricket Team, The Proteas. He was the first black African cricketer to represent South Africa. In 2002 he took 50 One Day International wickets. He was voted most popular sportsperson in South Africa by the BMI Sportrack study in 2005. Ntini retired from international cricket on 9 January 2011 at the Twenty20 international against India. He was honoured for his ongoing contribution to cricket.
