Born 25-09-1969 in Bellville South Africa

Francois Groepe was appointed Deputy Governor of the South African Reserve Bank in late 2011. He is the former Managing Director and CEO of Media24. He joined Media24 as CFO in 2003, was appointed as CEO of Media24 Newspapers in 2007 and promoted to group CEO in 2008. He serves on the Board of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) as non-executive director, chairs the SARB Risk Committee and is a member of the SARB Audit Committee. Groepe is also a member of the Council of Stellenbosch University. In 2011, Francois Groepe made an offer to lead a buy-out of the school book publishers, Via Afrika Education.
