While at University, Ingeborg was a lecturer and tutor to fellow students, producing, directing, choreographing and writing course and performance work, as well as being invited repeatedly to perform at the prestigious National Arts Festival (2004 & 2005).
She has been extremely fortunate as a performer to be involved in a diverse range of work as well as learning to enrich her performance abilities through various other industries. Her repeated performances in the children’s musical theatre productions of Barney (2007-2009) offered her international experience in London and the opportunity to perfect an American accent. While in London, she worked at the O2 Entertainment Complex (2007) managing celebrity VIPs and co-coordinating hospitality. She also worked at The Wellcome Collection Museum (2007) as a copywriter, editor, researcher and exhibition co-ordinator.
Besides regular commercial and voiceover work for radio, TV and cinema, Ingeborg has also been fortunate enough to star in a highly acclaimed version of The Vagina Monologues, a corporate training series for Standard Bank (2006-2007) and has featured as a guest character on the popular local soap, Sewende Laan (2009). She also enjoyed making it to the top 10 out of 400 for The Fairlady Style Apprentice (2010) on the M-Net Series Channel as well as performing in the Afrikaans smash hit film, Liefling (2010).
Ingeborg has also broadened her skills base through contract work with LM&P and The Backstage Girls(2008) for event co-ordination including conceptualisation and co-ordination of events such as awards ceremonies, launches, fashion shows, management of sound, videography and lighting teams. With choreography, research and writing for event scripting and worksheets, liaising with clients on entertainment, designers, and speakers.
Ingeborg freelanced for The Publishing Partnership (2008) as a stylist for various magazines in their stable and provides copywriting, script writing and art direction skills to The WinWin Group (2009-present ), where she also acts as a workshop facilitator, choreographer, researcher and project director.
Ingeborg was the first proudly South African actress to be accepted to the prestigious Professional Actors Workshop Series (2010) conducted in Los Angeles, California. This six week intensive course, co-ordinated by the Australian Institute for Performing Arts, introduced her to Hollywood’s top industry professionals, from Casting directors and Acting Coaches to Managers and Agents. As talent development specialist Marg Haynes, Director of AIPA explains-”it can often take actor’s over 10 years to meet these “heavyweights”, where competition is fierce and making a move to LA is a huge undertaking”. Haynes felt that Ingeborg “has what it takes to stand out in this industry. Ingeborg is committed, ambitious and a true talent”. She joined 30 Australian as well as two Canadian actors in what were often full day intensive workshops, requiring great preparation and endless energy.
Her most recent accolades have been a starring role in the highly anticipated second offering from Kamikaze Motion Pictures entitled Rancid, a gruesome thriller, which will release internationally towards the end of 2011 and completing the Story Seminar (2011) presented by the legendary Robert McKee. She was selected and sponsored by premium channel, M-Net to attend this course and enhance her skills, not only as a writer but an actor, arming her with a strong knowledge of story design, deep characterisation and skills to communicate with and better understand the director and writer’s vision.
Another notable role this year was a lead in a short film produced for the 48Hour Film Project Competition entitled Old Acquaintance Be Forgot (2011), which won numerous awards at the competition, including best characterisation and acting. Currently producers are in talks to turn this into a feature film as the response has been phenomenal.
Ingeborg firmly believes that the combination of her performance work with her experience in a number of business arenas has taught her to treat her career as a “mini-business” which requires constant consideration of strategy, marketing, development and innovation. She looks forward to the exciting projects lined up for 2012.
