Brian Warner was Vice-President of the International Astronomical Union. He is Emeritus Distinguished Professor of Natural Philosophy at the University of Cape Town. He is Member of the South African Academy of Science and Honorary Life Member of the Cape Town Historical Society. He is Fellow of the Third World Academy of Science as well as Fellow of the University College London. He is Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of South Africa. He is Honorary Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and Honorary Member of the Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand.
