I have been an adult education, training and development practitioner in South Africa and internationally for over 40 years. Up until March 2003 I was the Director of the Centre for Extra-Mural Studies at the University of Cape Town, where I taught adult educators for 21 years. I was responsible for the university’s large non-formal public education programme, which developed and ran the successful Summer and Winter Schools.
