Sasabona Manganye is currently the President of the Vaal University of Technology Alumni Association, Zonal Secretary of the ANC Inner-City Zone 12 in Greater Joburg Region and the Head of Political Education for the ANC Youth League in Greater Joburg Region and also a Chairperson of Sefako Makgatho ANC branch. He started to be involved in politics at an early age of 14 when he was pursuing COSAS agenda in the Presidency of the Learners Representative Council in Ben Hlongwane Secondary School from 1996 to 2000. He was recruited by the SACP in Mokopane, Tshamahansi in 1999 where he subsequently joined the ANC in the year 2000.
He is currently leading the ANC branch in Joburg as the Chairperson after he was the Convener. He is the President of the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) Alumni Association (2009-2011) and Convocation. He has been re-elected as the President of the Alumni Association. He serves as a Council member of the Vaal University of Technology and in its Exco as the Chairperson of one of its Committees. He is a Trustee of the VUT Foundation.
He furthered his education at the VUT where he led the ANC Youth League and SASCO Provincially in Gauteng. He obtained B-Tech in Information Technology from VUT and Certificate in Business Management from GIMT. He also served two terms as the Student Representative Council President in the Vaal University of Technology. He is a political activist who is highly outspoken on social political issues which mainly affect young people, the working class and the poor.
