Political Activist and Author


Born 10-11-1932 in Durban

Mr Mewa Ramgobin, is author of ''Waiting To Live'' and ''Prisms Of Light'', as well as National Vice President of the Congress of SA Writers. First supporter of the release of Nelson Mandela and all other political prisoners. He was banned for 17 years, house arrested for 12 years, charged for treason in 1985, as well as Convener and Chairperson Committee for Clemency 1971. He was member of Parliament until 2009. He is the founder of Centre for Learning of Ubuntu in the context of the Gandhian Trinity towards the African Renaissance for Global Co-Existence, Chairperson of Phoenix Settlement Trust, founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1904.
