Albrecht began her career as editor of student newspaper Die Maties, at Stellenbosch University in 1996. Before being appointed editor, Albrecht was an assistant editor of Die Burger and national editor of the newspaper supplement By. Albrecht is a judge of the South African Property Owners Association's Journalism Awards. She is also the recipient of the overall 2010 Women in Media award.
