Flip Van der Merwe

Flip van der Merwe joined the Vodacom Blue Bulls during the middle part of the 2009 season after playing Super Rugby for the Cheetahs from 2007-2009. He is a hard working number 4 lock in the Bakkies Botha mould and has done very well for the Blue Bulls in last year’s Currie Cup. He is a product of Grey College Bloemfontein and his father, Flippie van der Merwe, played tighthead prop for the Springboks in the 1980’s.
