Dawn started what was to become a lifetime career with Imperial Car Rental in Durban in 1980 when the company was three months old. Starting out as a rental agent, she was one of three staff employed to open a branch in Durban. After several promotions, Dawn took up the position of National Sales Manager and was appointed to the Board as Sales Director in 1986. In 1990 she was appointed Sales and Marketing Director and in 1995 she was promoted to the position of Executive Director. Dawn took over the steering wheel from Imperial’s founder, Carol Scott, as head of the company in September 1999.
In the latter part of 2007, Dawn managed the immense, complex and successful merger of Imperial Car Rental and Europcar, making her the custodian of one of the most powerful car rental brands in South Africa.
Dawn has served as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of SAVRALA: Car Rental Division for the past 14 years. She is also a member of the Business Women’s Association and held the Boss of the Year title for 2007.
