The Porterville Christusfees is an annual gospel music festival held in Porterville, South Africa. The first festival was hosted in Porterville in 2005. Many of South Africa’s top gospel artists have performed at the festival over the years. Some of the most popular artists to perform are Juanita du Plessis, Danie Botha, Piet Smit, Julius Magan, Jan de Wet and many more.
The festival has also become the ideal platform for new and local artists to perform to larger audiences. The format of the festival is characterized by open-air performances for the whole family, together with food stalls and many other attractions. A fun run is held early on the Saturday morning while later on the Saturday the festival hosts many activities for the children. A breakfast with an acclaimed Christian speaker is held on the Saturday of the weekend. The festival is ended on the Sunday morning with a communion church service.
The original idea of the festival was to raise funds for the local NG church in Porterville.
The festival quickly grew in popularity and was handed over to a planning and implementing committee. The festival is different to other festivals in that it does not allow any alcohol on the premises over the weekend
The main goal of the Porterville Christusfees is to offer excellent Christian music for Christians to enjoy with friends and family in a responsible, sober way.
