Chris van der Merwe started out as a social columnist then moved on to become the senior Fashion and Social Editor of StatusQuo Magazine. He then moved on to find Salon Privé Magazine, Africa's most exclusive magazine to date, as it is based on invitation only. However, the company is moving to become available to the general public during 2012 in the form of a printed magazine, e-mag as well as a smartphone application.

Chris also is the owner of the House Salon Privé brand, which includes two publications, an internationally respected modeling agency catering only to top clients and a cosmetic range that launches in 2012. Great passions includes the fashion and multi-media industry as well as the upliftment of those less fortunate. He hosts an annual fashion and social extravaganza to Generate funds for those less fortunate as well as to ensure the preservation and constant growth of the industry.
