Brian managed and led the Business Information Department of the Chamber (with nine staff members reporting to him). The Dept served members and the wider business community (national and international) with business intelligence and relevant information for business growth and development. The Dept also managed communications and publications (electronic and print) from the Chamber and served as secretariat for business representation fora which included BEE, Transport, Port Liaison, HR. etc.
Brian's efforts in bidding for a R1.8m USAID grant resulted in the Chamber being awarded the contract to train and develop 100 business owners over a 18 month period. Brian developed and managed the Integrated Small Business Owner Development Programme (iSBDP) which resulted in local business owners improving their own strategic management skills and growing their businesses.

Brian was awarded with the US Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in 2008. The IVLP brings participants to the United States from all over the world each year to meet and confer with their professional counterparts and to experience the U.S. firsthand. Those chosen are deemed current or potential leaders in government, politics, the media, education, and other fields. As part of the programme Brian visited and confered with various business leaders and eminent persons in New York, Washington DC and Atlanta
